Feature Overview

The Guide to Social and Emotional Learning: K-2 was created to help support an adult with the social and emotional development of the student. This is an extension of the developmental information that is provided in the Integrated EK course and is the beginning of the integration of social and emotional learning into the Lincoln Empowered curriculum.

Top Facts

The guide includes five social and emotional concentrations of the child: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Each area contains useful information and supportive practices.
The guide was meant for use by the overseeing adult, not the student.
A hard copy is included as a material available for purchase for the K-2 courses. It is also included digitally as a PDF in the course resources for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Music, and Art K-2 courses.

Purpose of the Guide

This guide was created to integrate social and emotional learning into the K-2 curriculum.

Lincoln Learning Solutions knows that the need for social and emotional support does not stop with preschool students; the guide is a way to add this element of learning and support for those students in kindergarten through second grade as well.

General Details

Electronic “buttons,” which direct the teacher, parent, guardian, or mentor to the guide, are included in the English Language Arts, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education K-2 courses. The buttons are embedded directly in the learning objects where applicable.
