The Lincoln Learning Teacher Experience

This article introduces teachers to teaching the Lincoln Learning curriculum in their learning management system.

Content Design and Settings

As a teacher of a Lincoln Learning course, it is important to familiarize yourself with the features of the curriculum you will be teaching. Knowing your content design will determine how your students interact with the content and allow you to make informed decisions to best support your students.

Lincoln Learning Solutions’ (LLS) content is organized hierarchically: module, lesson, then learning object, or what we call Its.

NOTE: Some learning management systems (LMS) may use different terminology for this hierarchy; for example, an LLS topic may be called a unit and an LLS lesson may be called a topic.

Learning objects are bite-sized pieces of content. Not all learning objects are the same; each type of learning object provides students with a different approach to learning based on the learning objective for the lesson.

TIP: View the Learning Object Overview article to learn more about our learning objects.

Content settings within the LMS allow teachers to adjust how students will interact with a single piece of content (often called an activity). You may have the ability to hide, edit, or change the order of content or even add your own content.

IMPORTANT: Content changes may affect your students' pacing.

Please review the Accessing Activity Settings in Your LMS article for more information.

Course Settings

It is important to understand how course settings may impact your students’ experience. Furthermore, if you are a teacher working within a team of teachers, you may want to keep consistent settings.

You’ll want to know if your course will auto-generate due dates or if you must manually create due dates because your course settings will be dependent on this.

Additional settings such as grading periods, grading scales, assessment weights, and more may be found at the course settings level. Based on your LMS and program setup, these options may vary.

IMPORTANT: The below videos discuss a teacher's experience in a general instance or tenant of the LMS. More features may be available to you if your Lincoln Learning courses are available through your school's LMS instance or tenant.
