Using the Lincoln Content Bank

This resource illustrates how to use the Lincoln Content Bank features to search for learning objects and add them to your course.

Search Bar Features

Using various metadata elements, such as topic, sub-topic, grade level, and more, type your search word or phrase into the search bar, and then click the eyeglass to populate a list of learning objects.

TIP: Use quotation marks to get exact word, word combination, and phrase matches.

Learning Objects are separated into the following categories:

Filter Features

To apply a filter, click the Filter icon and select the Grade, Subject, and/or Resource Type to refine the search results further.

The filter(s) will be applied in the search bar, and the appropriate filter button(s) will turn from gray to purple. Click an individual filter button to clear that filter, or click Clear All to clear all filters.

Select a state from the target search bar feature to further define the search to learning objects that are state-standard aligned.

NOTE: Filters can also be cleared by clicking the appropriate filter under the search bar.

Search Results Features

There are three actions available to take on a search result:

  • Add - adds the learning object directly to the course from where you accessed the Lincoln Content Bank
  • Bookmark - adds the learning object to the bookmarks of the Lincoln Content Bank
  • View - opens a preview of the learning object in a new browser tab

NOTE: BOOKMARKED will appear in green on the righthand side of the learning object.

To see the National and/or State Standard(s) associated with that learning object, click the Standards button.

Clicking See related objects under the learning object title will populate a list of related resources based on the subtopic.

Bookmark Features

Click the Bookmark icon to the right of the search bar to open a panel of all your bookmarked learning objects.

TIP: Click more info to see details about that learning object, and click less info to minimize the details.

Click the more icon to the right of the learning object to: Add the object to the course, View the object, Move/copy the object to a folder, or Remove the object from the collection.

NOTE: When you click Move, a pop up box will appear for you to move the object to a folder or copy the object to a folder. Choosing copy keeps the item available in your original list as well as in the chosen folder.

To add all saved learning objects to your course, check the box next to Select All; to add only one or select items, check the box next to single learning object titles. Then, click Add Selected. 

NOTE: Learning objects will be added to your course in the location where you accessed the Lincoln Content Bank.

Reorder the learning objects in your preferred order before adding them to your course. Click and drag the dots icon to the left of the object to move it.

Bookmark Folders

The the folder icon to create a new folder.

A pop up box will appear. Type the name of the folder into the text box and click Submit.

To add an object to a folder, either drag and drop it into the folder or click the up and down arrows to choose the folder.

The moved item will appear under the folder.

Rename or Remove the folder from the collection by clicking the appropriate icon.

IMPORTANT: Removing a folder also removes all items in the folder. A warning box will appear for you to confirm or cancel removing the folder.

To add an organized folder of content to your course, click the Add Selected icon from the top of Bookmarks.
