Using Lincoln AI in Your Lincoln Learning Content

This article provides a brief overview of Lincoln AI for student use and illustrates how students can access and use the Lincoln AI chatbot features in their Lincoln Learning content.

Getting Started with Lincoln AI

For general information, check out the Lincoln AI Overview article for a helpful introduction and how it can support your learning.

The following sections in this article are here to guide you on how to easily use Lincoln AI. They’ll show you how to get started, use the different features, and make the most of Lincoln AI to help with your learning.

 Accessing Lincoln AI 

  1.  Click the Lincoln AI button found in the bottom right corner of the learning object screen. 
  2. The interface will open, and you will be prompted to Enable Audio to hear the Learning Assistant.
  3. Once enabled, the learning assistant will greet you. You may begin asking questions either by typing or using the microphone.
  4. You can leave Lincoln AI and come back to the session. Remember, the session will need to be restarted if five minutes or more have lapsed and the previous conversation will be erased.

NOTE: If you use the microphone, give it access to your microphone. 

Interface Features

Find the features of the Lincoln AI interface with the corresponding numbers to help you use its tools.

  1. Learning Assistant
  2. Message input text field
  3. Response field
  4. Microphone to use voice for asking questions
  5. End Session
  6. Mute Learning Assistant

NOTE: The microphone will pick up all audio. Turn it off while listening to a response so it doesn’t pick up unintended words.

Tips

Follow these steps to pause the bobbing head of the AI-generated learning assistant.

  1. Right click on the avatar.
  2. Select open controls or show all controls.
  3. A pause button should appear in the bottom left of the avatar image.

Here are a few question ideas you might be able to use when interacting with Lincoln AI to help you learn the content.

  • Can you summarize the lesson?
  • What are some tricky parts of the lesson?
  • Can you break down the steps for _______?
  • Give me some additional problems to work through.
