Using the Settings Tab to Customize Your Learning Tree Community

This document informs teachers how they can use the toggles in their Settings tab to customize their Learning Tree community.

SETTINGS TAB

In a Learning Tree community, navigate to the Settings tab.

Within the Settings tab, you will see the tabs and features you can toggle on or off in your community.

NOTE: The default tabs and features visible for a newly created community appear as in the image above. Meetings, Self Goals, Documents, Members, Progress, and Report card are toggled on, and Sequential Learning is toggled off, disabling the feature.

CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS

IMPORTANT: Making any customizations within the Settings tab will apply to only the community in which you are working. Customizations will not be applied to other communities in which you are a member.

Meetings

If you are not planning on doing any live instruction, or you intend to use another meeting software besides the default Zoom integration to meet with students, you may want to consider disabling the Meetings option by clicking the toggle.

Disabling Meetings will remove this option and icon from both the teacher and student community tabs.

IMPORTANT: Disabling Meetings will not remove the Meetings option from the Main Menu if it is visible.

NOTE: Click here for more information regarding Meetings in Learning Tree.

Self Goals

Goals is a tab visible in the student view only. Goals allow students to set and achieve course objectives for a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Allowing Goals to be visible to secondary students may be appropriate.

Disabling the feature, thereby removing this option and icon from the students’ community tabs, may be fitting for younger learners.

NOTE: Click here for more information regarding Goals in Learning Tree.

Documents

Documents is where you can add materials to support and supplement your students’ learning. If you are not planning on sharing support materials for your students, disable the Documents option by clicking the toggle.

Disabling Documents will remove this option and icon from both the teacher and student community tabs.

NOTE: Click here for more information regarding Documents in Learning Tree.

Members

Members shows all students, teachers, and observers enrolled in the community to all users.

Disabling the Members tab will remove this option and icon from the community tabs in the student view only.

TIP: Disabling this option is ideal if you don’t want your students to know other students within the community.

Sequential Learning

Sequential Learning is disabled by default in Settings. Enabling Sequential Learning will allow students to see the Start Learning feature on their community card. If students click Start Learning, they will be taken to the first activity to complete in sequential order of the course content.

NOTE: Click here for more information regarding Sequential Learning in Learning Tree.

Progress

The Progress tab includes information and data to build custom reports in an adaptable PivotTable format. It can be disabled if you believe you will not utilize the information found within to monitor progress or build reports.

Disabling Progress will remove this option and icon from both the teacher and student community tabs.

TIP: If you are using your community as a place to meet, such as for a foreign language club, and no tangible work is being done within it, you may want to consider disabling Progress.

NOTE: Click here for more information regarding the Progress tab in Learning Tree.

Report Card

The Report Card tab will give you a view all student’s graded activities throughout the course.

Disabling Report Card will remove this option and icon from both the teacher and student community tabs.

TIP: If you are using your community as a place to meet, such as for a club, and no graded work is being completed within it, you may want to consider disabling the Report Card tab.

NOTE: Click here for more information regarding the Report Card tab in Learning Tree.

OTHER SETTING TAB OPTIONS

In the Settings tab, you also have the ability to delete the community by clicking the trashcan icon.

WARNING: Deleting a community will permanently remove the community from your landing page and the tenant; it will also delete all data associated with the community. Do not take this action without admin approval.
